Standing out from the crowd during the promotion of Learn Small Business Start-Up in 7 Days

With the release of my latest book Learn Small Business Start-Up in 7 Days; I’m excited to have a few interviews, editorials and podcasts lined up. I want to establish the smartest way I can leverage book sales from this exposure.

I think a book give-away is an opportunity, so I explored how other authors offered book give-aways. Here are a few examples:-

  •  Signed or autographed book – people do feel a bit special having a book that has been autographed. They also tend to hang on to them for longer. My son asked if I would get J.K.Rowling to sign the book. Maybe not…
  • Include a different book with the prize. I have copies of Learn MYOB in 7 Days, which I could also offer up as a prize package. It is complimentary to the starting a small business book. Or I could offer my next book – which would contribute to the pre-sales. But is adding to my expense.
  • A handy bookmark – I have some nice Learn MYOB in 7 Days bookmarks. I really should get some Learn Small Business Start-Up in 7 Days vouchers.
  • Include 30 minute on-line help to be used by 30th June at a time convenient for both parties. This is giving away my time and I’ve been advised to protect my time. So I don’t think I should do this.
  • A PDF or e-book of something else that I have written; I don’t really have capacity at the moment to write something else, but I think this is a good idea, and should do it with my next book!
  • Gift vouchers to book stores, coffee, and additional services. I could ask other businesses if they’re interested in sponsoring the prize, or adding to the prize offering.

Here is what Tim Ferris of the Four Hour Work Week offered recently: If you buy 3 print copies of the book send the amazon receipt to 3books@fourhourchef.com and I will invite you to an exclusive live Question & Answers with me after launching – where you can ask me whatever you want. Building from this, I could offer people an invite to a webinar – which is something I can easily do.

So I think I will offer a signed copy of Learn Small Business Start-Up in 7 Days with a handy bookmark, and an invitation to an exclusive online live Question & Answers – where the participants can ask me whatever you want.

What do you think? I would be really interested to hear your opinion.
