Australian Kayaking Adventures

Australian Kayaking Adventures

I recently attended a session with Australian Kayaking Adventures on the Gold Coast. They run tours of the Gold Coast broad water and Stradbroke Island. I bought a relative a ‘Half Day Dolphin & Stradbroke Island’ kayak ride gift voucher last Christmas — he loved it — so I was keen to see the kayaks in real life.

The adventure set sail at Budd’s Beach. There is a little coffee shop Bumbles café across the road you can grab a coffee or a cake before or after your trip.

It’s good to have a stretch before you get on the kayak, and limber up, and I picked up a tip, take thongs, and put them behind the small of your back, to give you some extra cushioning while navigating the kayak.

The enthusiastic tour guide, Steven Vah, demonstrated how to use the oars. Then life jackets were donned, kayaks were dragged down to the water’s edge, and the adventure began. The adventure took the group around the tranquil waters of Chevron Island, along the Nerang River. Steven has a wealth of knowledge so make sure you ask him lots of questions!
