Indulgent treats on the Gold Coast

O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat, is home to the Lost World Spa; If you’ve been saving your pennies and are looking for something indulgent try the three hour Vino-Therapy. It’s an anti-aging treatment using grape pulp and vine (from O’Reilly’s Vineyard) and includes a long soak in a barrel to finish off the session. Or if you are a bit more adventurous embark on a Segway Safari, a segway tour in a Lamington National Park.

Laura Humphreys of Threedom Wellness suggests investing in a private Yoga or fitness class. They can be more beneficial as they are tailored to your schedule and personal needs.

Roar Food’s runs demonstration cooking classes, consisting of 10 easy recipes, including the divine chocolate raspberry cake. ‘We can run this as a private class, and fine tune the recipes to suit your palate and your lifestyle’ says Brendon Jones founder of Roar Foods.

Budget routes to relaxation

If you really need to unwind, but are operating on a tight budget here are some ideas that will not break the bank;

the benefits of yoga ‘are quite endless, physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, spiritual’

Threedom Wellness has free online classes in yoga, Pilates meditation and breathing exercises (Pranyama) that can be done any place and time. Humphreys also provides exercise tips and advice, and includes recipes and healthy living ideas via her Facebook page.

For healthy eating Brendan Jones of Roar Foods says simply swap a chocolate bar for an apple and seeds. Also take a look at the online e-books which have been really popular. They contain quick and simple recipes out of wholefoods rather than expensive super foods.

Jump in the car and drive up to Tamborine Mountain. Lamington National Park has 160 km of bush trails you can explore at your own leisure. I always find twittering – LOL not the social media type – actually spotting birds to be very relaxing. Get up early to be treated to the birds of the forest.

Disclaimer: I attended events with Roar Food and Threedom Wellness event as part of the ProBlogger Pop Up events and as a guest of Queensland Tourism. Opinions are my own.

I paid to visit O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat with my family. There was torrential rain practically the whole

time we were there. We could not walk to the main common area the rain was so fierce. Our room had no view of the mountain, as trees completely surrounding our veranda. The weather seemed to have closed off a number of the walking tracks we tried to access. It would have been thoughtful, if O’Reillys followed up with us with a ‘rain pass’ inviting us back again, as we were practically cocooned in our room the entire short break. It was kinda relaxing in a weird jailed in luxury kinda way.

I think O’Reilly’s would be a great place when the weather is on your side!
