Analysis of the Xero International Add-On Market PlaceXero add-ons are kind of like apps for your iPhone. The add-ons plugs into Xero extending the functionality of the cloud based business solution. In this simple analysis, I counted the number of available solutions, by both Industry and Category across the counties Xero is offered in.

Note: You used to be able to filter by Global, but I am not sure how to do that with the new look Market Place options.

The final column is the average number of solutions available (total solutions divided by 4). The listing is sorted from largest to smallest, the line with the most number of add-ons appearing at the top.

I then took the information and created a visual representation of the data using a word cloud here http://www.wordle.net/create; The larger the word, the more add-ons in that line.

As a writer it gives me an idea of what areas are popular enough to warrant an add-on solution.

As a developer, it clearly shows areas that are already crowded and maybe highlights untapped opportunities.

As a cloud integrator, maybe this information can assist you in defining your niche. If for example you work with job orientated businesses, it is impossible to know all of the 67 available solutions, you must specialise in only a few. You may also consider specialising in some of the less crowded spaces and become the niche go to guru in them. In particular I think the education space would be a neat one to focus on, as each integration would be quite significant.
