The Festival of Accounting & Bookkeeping (FAB) 2024, taking place on 13-14 March at the NEC, Birmingham, is an exciting event for professionals in the field. It offers an opportunity to engage with industry experts through a variety of short, engaging talks, workshops, and networking areas. The festival promises a unique experience with a focus on the latest technology, AI applications in accounting, and practical business solutions.

From their event director Mike Goldsmith, “We wanted to create a place where accountants and bookkeepers could go and meet with friends. Whether they’re reconnecting with old ones or making new ones, it’s a chance to meet their peers in a place where they’ll be learning new things, to be able to grow their business while still actually having fun. Enjoyment and attending an event are not mutually exclusive.”

I’m thrilled at the prospect of connecting with my UK friends and meeting others in real life. Excited to finally meet up with Tom Herbert & Lucy Cohen IRL plus reconnect with Richard Hattersley & John Toon. Hoping my UK sisterhood – Emma Fox – Sharon Baker FCCA & Della Hudson FCA – Accountants’ Mentor can make it too. AND fingers crossed Alex Falcon Huerta & I shall hit the floor for some live ‘Cloud Stories’ podcast action! Plus both ACCA & ICB UK (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers), the professional organisations I belong to, are sponsoring the event.

This will be my first time speaking in England. I’ve pitched the organisers a few sessions but they’ve not yet told me what sessions they are slotting me into. Though I may have been asked to do a karaoke version of the twelve-inch remix of The Reflex at the end of Day One, in the big circle stage where the after party shall be held – it is a festival after all.

Well I do have a callout – is anyone coming in from Market Harborough, that I can discuss catching a lift with?

If you have any insights or experiences related to FAB, I would love to hear about them!
