We’ve always wanted to grow, and you could accelerate growth. Now we know the formula. Cash will help with that. But we’re also developing a technology platform. We started on the investment circuit. It’s part of the journey“.

Today, I’m bringing you live interviews from the Festival of Accountants and Bookkeepers in Birmingham in March 2024. The event was hosted by brilliant people from the UK’s premier online accounting news site, AccountingWeb.co.uk

This podcast is the first in a three-part series of interviews I did from the floor. In this episode, I discuss launching a UK version of XBert, a founder’s funding journey, updates on Sage products, and Richard Sergeant’s advice for vendors. There are also insights covering compliance, automation, growth, and more.

The Festival was delightful. The organisers did a swell job of adding festival flavour. There were lots of big, bold, bright colours, Yellow Wizard of Oz pathways, greenery-draped walls, spacious, colourful picnic tables, and tea and bickies in the quiet area.

I was very grateful to the conference organisers for giving me five speaking slots. Yes, this was my first time speaking in the UK, which was very exciting. I probably overcommitted to the speaking slots and should maybe have a rule in place that I only do a maximum of three across two days. Please remind my future self that!

I’d encourage you to add accountingweb.co.uk to your reading list and connect with my two favourite UK Accounting Technology journalists, Tom Herbert and Richard Hattersley. If you subscribe to my Accounting Apps newsletter, you’ll note that I frequently curate articles from AccountingWeb.co.uk.
