Scenario

Problem
Working on the latest version of MYOB, using a file yet to be activated.

When I run the COMPANY DATA AUDITOR, the Reconcile Tax code details with linked accounts displays an Out of Balance amount for the GST Paid.

Tax Code Reconciliation Exceptions
01/01/07 to 31/3/07

2-3030 GST Paid

Expected Account balance on 31/3/07 -$12152.41
Actual Account balance on 31/3/07 -$4788.62

Out of balance $7363.79

Working through this, I identified the CAP allocation on two cars, made up this figure.

During the period, 4 items were actually allocated to CAP, the other two did not seem to affect the GST Paid Reconciliation.

Also of note : I set up Capital Acquisitions;
Linked Account for Tax Collected : 9-1000 Miscellaneous
Linked Account for Tax Collected : 2-3030 GST Paid

Solution
I called up the two transactions related to the car purchase, changed the tax code to GST, recorded it, I then recalled up the two transactions related to the car purchase again, and changed them back to their original tax code CAP, and recorded them.

Now there was no Out of Balance on the Tax Code Reconciliation Exceptions report.

It seems somehow the original transaction did not properly register within the datafile.

Any further explanation welcome?
