An event to assist young entrepreneurs to get off on the right foot in business is being staged at QUT’s Brisbane Campus on May 27.
Step Up & Start Up is the result of a young man operating in the entrepreneurial space himself. Chris Davis, who operates his own event business, Greymouse Conference, said his idea for Step Up & Start Out was to give budding entrepreneurs the chance to hear from successful business creators about “how they did it”.
“The event’s intention is to provide these young people with inspiration, breaking down any barriers that previously stopped them in business and provide pathways to further education,” Mr Davis said.
Mr Davis has organised the presenters and supporters of the event, including Thinc Technology CEO Sean Russell, who started his first IT company at age 16, and Mini Movers founder Mike O’Hagan who “started with a ute and $200” and now has a $30million turnover business and 500 employees.
Others giving time to assist young entrepreneurs include busineess mentors Ross Vickery and Kelvin Davis, Ray Scarlett from Small Business Solutions and marketing specialist Hilary Knights of Marketing Angels.
Step Up & Start Out is for up to 120 young entrepreneurs age 19-24 years, from 6.30pm on May 27 at The Gibson Room, Z1064, QUT Gardens Point Campus, Brisbane. Registrations are online.
