There is an interesting article at Flying Solo by Nicky Jurd discussing the merits of website photography. I wonder if blogs are required to have the same standard of photos?
I spent the day at the Ekka. It is a family tradition. To me the Ekka is a group of small business owners passionate about what they are doing, selling their goods and wares to the people. There are so many stories, I went into retirement and started growing apples, I came over as a backpacker and started selling toy monkeys that spring into the air . . .
I like to chat to the regulars The Alchemy Cordial Company, Dr Red, and the new boys on the block. I saw a company selling chicken tractors this year for the first time.
As well as the stories, there are the sales technics. Here try this for free. The carnival folk and their cries at parents & temptations for kids. Did you know if you win a small toy in side show alley, and a second small toy in side show alley, you can combine them for a larger toy. Sort of like a carnival loyalty programme.
I understand the EKKA is not for everyone. We along with 90 000 people went on people’s day, and I understand that crowds and noise are not everyones cup of tea. I go for the stories, and the experience to learn and watch other small business owners.
One day maybe I will even have an MYOB Training stand at the Ekka.
