Setting up an accounting system is a critical part of the financial management of your business.  If the cashflow is tight you should look at the most basic MYOB accounting software available to use; MYOB Business Basics.  On the MYOB website it is described as follows;

“Manage all your basic business tasks from the one easy program, designed specifically for small or home-based Australian businesses. Streamline the data entry and reconciliation side of managing your business and free up your time to focus on running it.”

This system is ideal if you;

ü  Want to track revenue and expenses

ü  Have no inventory

ü  Employ no staff

ü  Want to see how your business is performing

ü  Run a small or home-based business

ü  Calculate your GST & BAS

You can download a free trial version from www.myob.com.au just click thru on the hyperlink.  I can sell this product to you, for $199 plus $15 shipping.

There is a cheaper product called Just Invoices, but I do not recommend that to anyone.

As you business grows you can upgrade to MYOB Accounting, using the data file created in MYOB Business Basics, so you retain your history and have been kind to your cashflow.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to get the datafile set up properly and invest in some good quality training.  Here is a link to 10 questions you should ask your potential MYOB trainer http://www.aniseconsulting.com/myobTraining.html.
