Around this time of the year, business owners are busily burning their ATO empdupe file to disk. I have a reasonable understanding of technology, but when it comes to burning files to discs nothing ever seems to work as it should. It tried for about an hour, on both computers and no luck. I tried help sites on the internet, reading the help option, I tried various different methods of approach and nothing would work for me. Determined to finish this task I picked up my PCUser magazine – I am sure at one stage it recommended the best disc to burn to. I flicked through the magazine but could not find their recommendation. I grabbed the car keys and left for Officeworks. I stood in front of the ten foot high tower of a plethora of different discs that I could purchase. I had decided that my problem could be caused by the fact that I was trying to burn to a DVD RW. I was approached by a member of staff who asked if she could help. I explained my predicament to her, and she was very concerned, asking questions and delving into my technology hiccup.
She did not think it was because of the DVD-RW disc. Damn. She could not tell for certain what was causing my problem. In the end, to throw money at a solution I settled on purchasing 50 disc pack TDK CD-R GOLD disc at 700MB for $18.76. The Officeworks attendant was not sure if it would resolve my issue, and asked me to come back with more details, if the problem persisted. I got home, made myself a cup of tea, took a deep breath, and it worked, in less than a minute my empdupe file was burnt to disc and along with the magnetic media information, shall be on its way to the ATO this afternoon. What a relief!!
