This is my first foray into a wordpress site, and I think it is going to be a time consuming black hole. I really wanted to understand how wordpress worked, and am budgeting 15 minutes a day on developing this site. The main purpose of this new website is to separate my writing and speaking life from my consulting life. While they are all very much entwined, my consulting website was becoming an overwhelming navigation exercise. Divide and conquer!
I am the type of person, who if I discover something that I think you will find useful, I will share it with you. You? You are likely to be involved someway in small business, either as a small business owner or employee or you one day dream of owning your own small business.
I remembered having that same dream over 6 years ago, and it has been incredibly fulfilling to see it come to fruition, and to be able to assist so many small business owners while juggling life.
Today, as I write this, it is a cold and rainy day, by Brisbane standard. I have 3 dogs curled up in my office, and I have probably over run my 15 minutes on wordpress today.
What did I do? Rather than buy a theme, (there were too many options!) I decided to stick with the one wordpress starts me with. I inserted a photo of Broadbeach, where I grew up. I think I have created three pages, my three areas of focus, consulting, writing, and speaking. I added purple to the background. I wanted to add RGB102000102 but I can’t work out how that translates into wordpress. The colour I have in wordpress is #5a0b93 which seems to be a different type of coding altogether. Any suggestions?
Till tomorrow,
Heather
