I am undertaking a #30MXEROCHALLENGE which broadly translates into a 30 minute a day XERO Challenge. I dedicate 30 minutes every day to learn this more about this innovative online accounting solution. I have been entrenched and working with and loving MYOB for years, so the thought of having to learn something new throws up a whole set of issues.

As a business consultant I am constantly contacted by companies telling me I need to learn their product because it will be beneficial to my clients. But your time can be soon be sucked into a black hole, if you follow that strategy.  I am very protective of my time. People sometimes comment that I am very productive, yes I am, but I am very protective of where I spend my time and this is how I am so productive.

I have known about XERO for a year now. I am constantly hearing good things about the online software solution from people in the industry that I respect. I have attended numerous XERO webinars, and presentations. I passed my XERO Partner Certification course in June 2010. I can officially call myself a Certified XERO Advisor. So now I am going to allocate 30 minutes of my valuable time to really learn everything about XERO.

Heather Smith is a XERO Certified Advisor

I started by calling HELP DESK. It is always good to call the help desk of a product before you commit to using it. They responded quickly, and were able to answer all of my questions.

The XERO website states: – With XERO you get unlimited support for free. How can we help you?

It is good to remember that when weighing up the cost of XERO against other products.

As I start to set-up the company I open the Get setup for day-to-day business in XERO screen. On this page is heads of information, FAQ, a 16 page downloadable set-up guide, and 11 minutes of videos.

The page seems to be answering many questions that I had as I started this learning process.  I am going to spend the rest of my time watching videos.

I will update you tomorrow!
