Heather Smith is a XERO Certified Advisor

Wow after the excitement of yesterday, I completed reconciling my credit card transactions. There will be no more for at least a week because I had to cancel the card.

Today I thought I would customise the invoice.

The invoices are quite plain, which I am happy about. I think of invoices a document for requesting payment not an advertising document.

I click on Settings -> Invoice Branding.

I installed a logo during the installation process.

I click on Automatic Sequencing and add the next invoice number to the Next Number field.

I click on Accounts->Accounts Receivable->New Invoice

I printed the invoice to pdf.  The payment advice is pre-filled in and it does not have banking details on it, so I must have to customise it.

So I go back to Settings -> Invoice Branding and click on New Branding Theme and click on Custom .docx theme.

I download the invoice and customise it. I change all of the fonts to trebuchet, my companies brand font. I put a double line green border around the page.  I enter my banking details because I prefer to be paid by direct deposit.

I upload the template and rename it ANISE Invoice.

I try to print the invoice again, but it will not let me select this invoice. It appears that when I initially created the sale I selected the invoice, and now I cannot change the invoice brand.

I create a new sale and select “ANISE Invoice”.  From then on when I customise the ANISE Invoice, every time I print that sale it does show the invoice.

This process is a fiddlier than I like. XERO suggests we are working with a word template, but note it is a template in word, but not a word template ending in *.dotx which confused me.

I still do not have the invoice I want but I have burnt 30 minutes. I can see that once I have an invoice that I like, I will be able to easily customise them for a clients, and upload them in their XERO software.

Bye,

 I am undertaking a #30MXEROCHALLENGE which broadly translates into a 30 minute a day XERO learning challenge. I dedicate 30 minutes every day to learn more about this innovative online accounting solution.
